You maybe surprised to learn that Football Manager Pundit is now one year old. Opening our doors at the end of October last year we have released over 80 posts helping you become a better football manager. In celebration and with the release of Football Manager 2011 I thought it might be a good idea to go back through some of the back catalogue to see what guides will also help you with Football Manager 2011.

1. Killing the Rot, How to recover to form

Form is always going to be a problem and morale is often the cause of it. You will have to look at the different options you need to take when not even the best tactic is working to get your out of a spiral of defeats. It is definitely going to help me as I am going back to the lower leagues.

2. Three Steps to hold the lead

How do you see out those close 1-0 leads? The opposition will try as hard as they can to sniff out a win, if it is close with 10 minutes to go they have nothing to lose but to throw everything they have you. Therefore it is important to know how to keep those 3 points when your up against it.

This was a major complaint for people playing Football Manager 2010, many complaining that it was the game. I for one don’t think the coding in the game had much to do with it.

3. 4-6-0 My false Nine tactic

The tactic that won me the treble. You need very good players to be able to pull of this tactics, attacking full backs and creative midfield. But once it clicks it is highly successful. I am pretty proud of the tactic and have also been trying it out while playing the Football Manager 2011 demo with minor tweaks to suit my team. Producing wonderful flowing football that is suited to the modern game.

4. Three ways to build an unbeatable defence

Defence isn’t all about the defenders keeping the ball out the back of your net. Considering the strategy of the whole side from the goalkeeper to the strikers can reap rewards to winning games.

I often defend from the front and want the ball as far away from my goal as possible as we control the ball well. Building sides that can pass effectively so that the opposition don’t have a chance to build up attacks. Others may not have that luxury and need to hold tight giving as little space as possible in front of goal.

5. Playing the transfer market efficiently

Some of these rules have come into focus recently with Lyon looking to win their first European title and Liverpool looking to get more bang for their buck by playing the transfer market well. This can help bring sustained success when exploiting the transfer market weaknesses in order to profit over the long term. Arsenal are the best example of this in the UK. I will be trying to do as much as I can to stick to these rules when working in the transfer market in Football Manager 2011.

6. Playing Football Manager 2011 on more then one computer

Many people might be installing their games through STEAM and you are able to play Football Manager 2011 anywhere in the world if you have STEAM installed. But one thing that STEAM does not do is carry your saved games from computer to computer. This handy guides takes you through the steps you can take to play your saved game on several computers.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend of Football Manager playing and another year of great success for both managers and FM Pundit.
